Megan Newman Dyerline

Megan Newman DyerMegan Newman Dyer is a twenty-seven year member of the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra viola section.  She received her Bachelor of Music from Oberlin College, where her teacher was Stephen Clapp, and her Master of Music from The Juilliard School, where her teachers were Lillian Fuchs, Paul Doktor and William Lincer.  She received her music education certification from Hartwick College.  Ms. Dyer is a past principal violist of Tri-Cities Opera Orchestra and the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra.  She is currently principal violist of the Catskill Symphony and Catskill Chamber Players, and a frequent substitute violist for the Binghamton Philharmonic and the Albany Symphony and other regional orchestras. She serves as viola coach for the Empire State Youth Orchestra and has maintained private viola studios in Albany as well as in her home town in Oneonta.

Ms. Dyer is currently vocal music director at Oneonta High School and conductor of the NYSSMA award-winning OHS Concert Choir. She has been on the piano faculty of Hartwick College and is a frequent guest conductor and accompanist for choral music festivals across New York State. Ms. Dyer lives in Oneonta, New York with her husband Jonathan.  Her daughter Alison is a graphic artist living in Portland, Oregon and her daughter Tricia is in her final year as a trumpet performance major at Purchase College.
